Middlesbrough Shotokan Karate is a family-run, family-focused club, inspiring people of all ages and backgrounds to take up karate.
We provide a warm, positive environment that supports personal growth and sporting excellence, while striving to become a center of performance for the community.
Our dojo at Holmwood School provides the perfect setting for traditional Shotokan Karate. With wooden floors to sharpen kihon and kata, and tatami mats to support competitive kumite training, it blends tradition with modern development.
The dojo also hosts our association competitions, bringing together clubs from across the Tees Valley.
We are proud members of the Taisho-Do Karate Association, which is affiliated with the English Karate National Governing Body.
Our governing body is directly connected to the World Karate Federation, the only karate federation recognised by the International Olympic Committee

Monday - Kumite Class
Class 1: -12yrs/Beginners 18:30 - 19:30
Class 2: +13yrs and green belt and above 19:30 - 20:30
Thursday - Kihon & Kata Class
Class 1: Orange BELT AND BELOW 18:30 - 19:30
Class 2: green belt and above 19:30 - 20:30
sUNDAY - Elite Kata Class
Class 1: Purple BELT AND BELLOW 13:00 - 14:00
Class 2: Blue belt and above 14:00 - 15:00
